During community outreaches, there are lot of activities done. This program enable volunteers to learn cultural and social ways about the locals from remote areas. Number of activities are organized. This starts with the locals to visualize on how they see where their community is in terms of challenges and how to solve them as a team. Our village action team members together with volunteers record a general survey on number of issues as identified by the locals.

Volunteers through our outreaches program, they are able to share experiences with the locals such as house hold issues, they participate in vegetable and fruits growing, they help in digging latrines together with locals, they help making bricks, engage in community sports, they help teach English in village local schools some wish medical skills give a hand in local clinics.

WHAT YOU EXPECT TO DO

Volunteers in the community outreach program join in on the work of FREDAfrica community village action team members (VAT)

Volunteer activities may include a combination of the following activities:

  • women empowerment through small business development and handicraft making through FREDAfrica beads of joy project
  • work alongside women in their communal gardens;
  • youth mentoring through art and sport;
  • micro-finance administration;
  • primary school classroom teaching;
  • assisting in medical clinics; and
  • light construction, and maintaining wells and other village infrastructure.

A community outreach placement is particularly appropriate for volunteers with great ideas and enthusiasm for grassroots development.

This is a real opportunity for deep cultural understanding.
