WHAT EXPECTED IN OUR VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM
Volunteering with FREDAfrica is more that being a volunteer but a friend, a relative, a partner and a teacher where you exchange an experience with the locals mostly from hard to reach areas of Uganda. Expect that your knowledge experience shared will create a lasting impact in the lives of many Ugandans especially from the communities we serve. Getting fully involved in day to day activities with locals in Ugandan communities makes a lasting impact and promotes project ownership by the very communities.
Expect dances, singing, laughers, and times of joy during our local and community activities with the people we serve. Expect to be introduced to the beauty and complexity of Ugandan life. Building relationships with locals working hard to impact our communities. Ugandan communities expect to learn from international volunteers as well as showing off their own ideas, knowledge and traditions. In other words cultures are exchanged and appreciated in a true collaboration.
WHERE DO OUR VOLUNTEERS WORK
FREDAfrica has 8 local offices from hard to reach communities where volunteering efforts and work is more required. These guest houses are within a private, compound, and has running water and western toilets. Local Ugandan food is served daily, and laundry is done from the guest houses.
We have a general office within Mukono town 20km from Kampala and 50km to Jinja where socializing with other volunteers meet for leisure from work.
